Say hello to our three new ride leaders of the month

Congratulations to our three new ride leaders of the month – Mir Zaman, Philip Woolford and Ralph Bagge.

Mir Zaman caught the cycling bug four years ago after a work colleague entered him into a challenging mountain bike marathon in the peak district. Since then he vowed to get back on his bike more regularly and after hearing about Sky Ride and attending some local rides, he decided to become a Ride Leader. He now leads free, fun bike rides in and around Birmingham, including some of our new off-road bike rides. Mir said ‘it’s a great feeling taking a group out on a ride, motivating and encouraging them. Thank you for this award I am extremely delighted.’

Next up is Philip Woolford, who has been a keen leisure cyclist since his daughters learnt to ride their first bikes. More recently Philip started commuting to work and became interested in world of competitive cycling, even volunteering as a marshall for the Tour de France. He became a Sky Ride Leader and route planner four years ago – ‘I like to add something different to my rides, a little shortcut or a piece of local history, so that all my participants have a thoroughly good time.’ Congratulations Philip and we hope you enjoy spending your Wiggle voucher on some new cycling gear.

Cycling has been a part of Ralph Bagge’s life since he started riding his bike to school at the tender age of seven. He has cycled throughout much of his adult life, giving mountain bike riding a go and encouraging his whole family to get on their bikes during holidays. In the past few years Ralph has become actively involved in campaigning for cyclists and in 2011 he trained as a Ride Leader. Ralph says ‘I’m really pleased to be honoured as a Ride Leader of the month, I love cycling and it’s really rewarding to see people enjoying Sky Ride Local bike rides.’

Congratulations and thank you to Mir, Philip and Ralph from everyone at SkyRide!
