Sky Ride Local in Blackpool
This 25 mile ride gives riders the opportunity to explore Blackpool, the Fylde coast and Wyre Valley on a circular route taking in some fascinating sights. The ride starts on Blackpool's breezy promenade and heads up towards Cleveleys, where it quits the coast and heads towards Thornton. From Thornton, you'll pass Poulton-le-Fylde, crossing the River Wyre and heading onto a back-road loop near Hambleton. Route highlights include the offshore windfarm, the North Pier, the majestic Norbreck Castle Hotel, the newly developed promenade, the heritage shopping experience at Marsh Mill, Stanah Country Park and the boatyard of the evocatively titled Skippool Creek. This rolling route follows traffic-free promenade, suburban streets and country lanes and is suitable for road bikes. Please don't forget to bring 10p per participant to cross the toll bridge!

Hi I have been married for 28 years I have to daughters and two grandaughters. I cycle to work every morning, 20 mile round trip. Also I am a member of the Lancaster 20/twenty club and try and go out as much as possible with them, if we are not away in our V-Dub camper van.

I'm an experienced cyclist even though this is my first season doing Sky Rides I've been involved in cycling for many years. Used to race in time trials but that was years ago (When I was fitter and slimmer). Prefer road riding to off road. Prefer down hill to up hill

Like many of us I have been riding bikes since a kid and have owned bikes on and off for 40 odd years. To me riding is not about the latest kit or how fast you can go but more about the fun to be had out and about. A good cycle ride clears the head and puts a smile on my face. I cycle to work most days and being a teacher try to encourage children to ride. I prefer mountain biking to avoid the cars/traffic/noise but don't mind a trundle on the streets. I own two mountain bikes and one road bike and look forward to taking part in Sky rides.
