Off-Road - Ride Well

Sky Ride Local in Birmingham

Get out and explore the countryside with the brand new rural off-road routes from Sky Ride Local.  Off-road Ride Well is mostly traffic free rural bike riding for the family and novice cyclist.  There is barely a metre of tarmac in sight on these rides so come and enjoy the scrunch of gravel and the squelch of mud under your tyres with us!

Cannock Chase is an area of outstanding natural beauty and what better way to see it than on 2 wheels. This route follows the picturesque Sherbrook Valley with its open heathland and forests. There is plenty to see along the way with wildlife and Deer roaming freely. The route follows a fantastic little stream and we visit the famous Stepping stones of Cannock Chase giving the bike a nice little wash as you ride through. Heading back the views from the top of Abrahams Valley are wonderful, looking around seeing Cannock’s Natural Forests. Continuing back we pass through Tackeroo Campsite and the amazing Fair Oak pools with more wildlife and a spot of fishing. There are plenty of picnic tables if we need to stop and there's a great café at the Cannock Chase Visitor Centre and at Birches Valley to help you stock up on those cakes to keep you going. This is a truly lovely place to see and there are loads more cycle routes available for your next cycling trip!

  • Barry Cooke Hi
I love to cycle and own 3 bikes,my main bike is a road bike but also love a bit of mountain biking in Cannock Chase plus I have a hybrid bike so i can cycle those loveley canal routes. As a child I rode my bike everywhere but it wasn't till about 4 years ago I got the bug back and now im hooked. Ive done sportives and charity rides and im planning to ride my first 100 miles later in the year with a fellow sky rider, if i can get the training in . My first year with sky rides I did 13 and loved it so much, meeting new faces making new friends, riding places I never knew where out there, I decided to become a Sky ride Leader and give back to others the benefits I gained and the confidence it gave to me to ride more. I have also just qualified as a route planner for sky so looking to get some new routes planned in the area, also im an off road leader with some exciting routes coming soon and with the ride strong plus+ coming your way there's no better time to join me,so Im hoping to meet loads more people this year and share the enjoyment of riding in a group no matter what the weather, so lets get riding and see you all soon.
