Sky Ride Local in Manchester

Challenging rides on the road for adults only

If you’ve been riding a road bike for a while, and perhaps been thinking about joining a cycling club, these rides – brand new for 2012 – are for you. The prospect of a speedy pace over twenty to fifty miles, and the strong likelihood of some hills thrown in along the way, means our Ride Strong Plus rides are not for the faint-hearted.

Starting and finishing at The National Cycling Centre home of Team GB, this challenging ride follows quiet country lanes through the Medlock valley before passing through the outskirts of Daisy Nook and over Hartshead Pike, where you'll feel a world away from the hustle-and-bustle of Manchester.  Then it's onto the picturesque village of Uppermill before enjoying the route back to the National Cycling Centre.  Remember to bring your cycling legs!

If you've already tried one of our Ride Strong Plus rides and you're ready for the next challenge, why not try a British Cycling Sportive?

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Trevor Fenwick Hello and welcome to Sky ride locals..... My name is Trevor, one of your leaders for your ride today. I started taking part in Sky ride locals myself last year as an introduction back in to cycling. I enjoyed them so much I decided to train as a Leader and help get people in to the sport of cycling.
I certainly got the bug for riding and try to get out as much as i can, cycling to work and for pleasure. I enjoy it so much I set myself a challenge last year of cycling Lands End to John o'Groats this year, which i completed in June. It was an amazing journey travelling 1015 miles in 10 days.
I hope you enjoy your ride today and it be the start of an amazing journey on your bike, however short or far you travel.
    Trevor.
  • Andrew Taylor Hi, this is my second year as a ride leader and looking forward to meeting more people wanting to get out on there bike for fun or fitness.

I am a personal trainer and my sport of choice is dualthon and triathlon, I enjoy feeling the freedom of running and riding in the great outdoors.

I believe that cycling is for all and I am really looking forward to meeting you and helping you either start your journey into cycling or continue to help in making cycling enjoyable for you.
See you on a ride soon.
