Challenging rides on the road for adults only

If you’ve been riding a road bike for a while, and perhaps been thinking about joining a cycling club, these rides – brand new for 2012 – are for you. The prospect of a speedy pace over twenty to fifty miles, and the strong likelihood of some hills thrown in along the way, means our Ride Strong Plus rides are not for the faint-hearted.

Taking off from Watford and heading north east this ride is the maximum distance for a "Strong" ride and it has some hilly sections. It keeps to quiet lanes where possible, some on traffic free cycleways passing through scenic countryside and woodlands. Although we are never far from the motorways it is surprising just how rural this ride is. There are also a couple of popular cafes on route in pleasant country surroundings - always a must for cyclists.

Additional Information

As these are adult only rides, designed for cyclists progressing from the standard Ride Strong level, the pace of the ride could increase to 15mph at the discretion of the Ride Leader.

Helmets must be worn by all under 18's regardless of ride level.
Please bring equipment with you to repair punctures, Ride Leaders are there to help but are not responsible for your bike.
All rides leave at the time stated you must arrive early Ride Leaders will not wait.

• Nick Rawling Hi my name is Nick.
  In my youth I did Road Racing and held a 1st Category licence.
  I have also been one of a priveledged few people who have worked with Professional Cycle Racing teams on the Tour de France and the Giro d' Italia
  These days I only cycle for pleasure be it on the road or off road leaving the racing to viewing only on Eurosport.
  I look forward to meeting you on up coming Sky Rides
• Nick Lilley I've been an obsessive cyclist for over 35 years and have taken part in a multitide of charity rides. I taught all 3 of my daughters to ride a bike as well as my wife when she was in her 30's !
  Cycling is such an easy and healthy way of getting around town and commuting to work. I HATE traffic jams !
  It is so important to gain confidence on a bike both on and off road. These Sky Rides are the perfect way to do this.
