Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.

Sky Ride Local in Manchester

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

A ride with a difference, skirting the perimeter of Manchester Airport on eight miles of quiet lanes, cycle paths and off-road trails. From the gentle rolling cycleway, you'll be able to watch the arrivals and departures at one of the UK's busiest airports, while the airport's viewing park and the tourist hotspot of Quarry Bank Mill provide the stopping points of interest. Due to the mixed nature of the route's surfaces, road bikes with narrow tyres are not advised.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Galib Dad
  • Simon Lamb I first got into cycling about three years ago and instantly fell in love with it. I now try and commute as much as possible on my bike, plus rides at the weekend and on holidays. This includes sky rides and other events. I find cycling makes me feel healthy, allows me to see new areas and meet new people. And now I want to help others to do the same by leading sky rides...so get involved!

A great ride, although stop / start due to number of people taking part 29. Smaller groups would be easier and safer to manage. Airport stop off for a drink was great for the kids, a great morning in the sunshine. thank you Keith (Ride Leader)
