Ribble Ring

Sunday 15th September at 10.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
South Ribble Borough Car Park behind the Civic Centre West Paddock PR25 1DH
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 55 mins  (2 hours 55 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in South Ribble

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

This Challenging 32 mile ride explores the great cycling country to the south of Preston. The route follows an anticlockwise loop, heading west to Croston before turning south towards Mawdesley and Wrightington Bar. Your route then turns east heading across the M6 through Coppull and Adlington before stopping at Rivington Barn at the foot of the mighty Winter Hill, visible for miles around. From Rivington you'll then head north through Chorley and Whittle le Woods, before cutting west back to Leyland. Highlights along the way include the Botany Bay heritage experience, Anderton's Mill and the inspiring sight of Winter Hill from Rivington Barn. Make no mistake, this is a grand day out in Lancashire.

  3. Arran Wicher Monday 11th July
Very enjoyable! slow start due to mountain bike riders but they had to quit 1/3 (I would highly recommend ONLY road bikes take this on) Some good sprinting hills to tackle along the way, with a few long hills.Take a bit of cash for the cafe at top.
