Sky Ride Local in Torbay
If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
This scenic route will take us out to the historic Limestone headland of Berry Head passing through Brixham and Sir Francis Drake’s Golden Hind. Once we reach the headland we will be rewarded with great views across Torbay, the lighthouse and some of the best preserved Napoleonic forts in the country. Berry Head is also a National Nature Reserve so we may be lucky enough to see such wildlife as Peregrine Falcons while we are there. Where possible we will use cycle paths and quiet roads but there is a small section on slightly busier roads on the way back from Brixham. If you have tried some of the shorter Steady Rides and fancy taking a step up, this is the ride for you.
