Sky Ride Local in Lincoln

This route begins in the village of Skellingthorpe and makes use of the cycle route to begin and end a journey that takes us through Harby, Doddington and Eagle Moor. All of these areas are within easy reach by bicycle with quiet rural roads providing a pleasant cycling environment. This is an opportunity to explore the local area and even enjoy a break (and cake!) at Doddington Hall or in Harby. Daisy made ice cream is a stones throw away from our start point, bikes, cake and ice cream what more could you ask for!?

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

Helmets must be worn by all under 18's regardless of ride level.
Please bring equipment with you to repair punctures, Ride Leaders are there to help but are not responsible for your bike.
All rides leave at the time stated you must arrive early Ride Leaders will not wait.

    I got into cycling about 2 years ago when I got a bike through the 'Bikes2Work' scheme - I hadn't cycled in about 15 years! I haven't looked back since and love getting out on my bike whenever I can.

    I ride in a little social cycling club in Witham St Hughs which we started thanks to the 'Wiggo' effect after the Olympics.

    Cycling is great!

  • Alastair Sellers Alastair Sellers Hi. I have lived in Lincolnshire for three years, having grown up in Derbyshire and lived in London for a number of years.

    I started out mountain biking in the 1990s in my early teens and then spent my 20s commuting by bike in Manchester at University and working in London for about 7 years.

    Whilst I do get my mountain bike to trails centres and natural trails from time to time, most of my cycling is now road-based on the flatlands of Lincolnshire.

    I am a teacher in a secondary school and am also a qualified Bikeability instructor. I love pursuing my passion for cycling in any manner I can.
