A Bold Day Out

Sky Ride Local in Knowsley

This is a lovely flowing ride which encircles the estate of the Earl of Derby in Knowsley. We head out via St Helens, Thatto Heath, Clock Face, Bold Heath where we have a lovely cake break lined up, Penketh, Cronton and finally back to Knowsley via Childwall. The ride is challenging in nature but easily attainable by anybody that fancies putting themselves to the test!

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

Additional Information

Helmets must be worn by all under 18's regardless of ride level.
Please make sure your bike is in good working order and bring equipment with you to repair punctures, Ride Leaders are there to help but are not responsible for your bike.
All rides leave at the time stated you must arrive early Ride Leaders will not wait.

  This is my second year as a Sky Ride Leader and I can't wait to get going again. I have been out clocking up the miles with my Social Cycling Group over the winter and the toes have been very, very cold. I think we deserve some warmer weather again and quickly so we can get out doin what we love.
  
  I am looking forward to meeting up with you all on the sky ride local rides in Knowsley, Liverpool and Chester and I hope that I can inspire lots of people to get involved and use your bikes as often as possible!

• Martin Ariss Hi all, well this is now my 3rd year as a Sky leader proving that I really enjoyed the first two. This is a great way to meet people with similar interests ( 2 wheels, spokes, etc etc ) although I have met a couple of people on 3 wheels on some of the rides. I enjoy hearing your tales of cycling and your experiences and also enjoy speaking to people who arent sure of their skills and abilities but prove to themselves and the leaders that they are a confident rider in distance and in group riding. I look forward to meeting you all this year.
• Robert Gaffney Hi my name is Rob, I have recently just passed my Level 1 Leadership and Level 2 Route planning courses. I have 3 bikes in total a road, hybrid and mountain. I mainly use the road bike now and last year competed in a charity ride from Liege to London. We rode 340 miles in 3 days and watched the Tour de France in Liege. I commute to work every day on the bike and get out most weekends and days off. I like the speed of the road bike but also like getting off road when I can.
