Sky Ride Local in Sheffield

This wonderfully scenic cycle incorporates all that South Yorkshire has to offer. Limestone wall lined country roads meandering through idyllic rolling hills and woodland Wildlife Trusts. We begin in Fulwood heading west parallel with Porter Brook, through the quaint suburban, setting before climbing up circling Peter Wood. The ascent is a rewarding one, with the vista taking Lodge Moor and the undulating farm lands. Although there will be some climbing, there's no problem getting off and walking occasionally - and it will be worth it for the fantastic views - almost as far as the east coast! The ride continues out towards Redmires Reservoirs where we will stop at the picnic tables to reward ourselves with quaint views and your own choice of snack. The ride returns past Wyming Brook Nature Reserve, this time cycling North side of Peter Wood to re-join our route on Mayfield Road and winding back home.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Lyn Morgan Hi my name is Lyn, I'm 52 and started cycling 6 years ago. Since then I have developed a real passion for cycling and go out whenever I can. I like to cycle alone, with friends and in organised groups. I have met many people whilst cycling and made lots of new friends. I feel that riding on a bicycle is the best way to see the world and enjoy the lovely countryside we have in the UK. I do hope you are able to find the time to come and join us on one of our rides. You won't be disappointed.
  • Stephen Cole Stephen Cole Hi, Stephen here.

I have always just loved being on a bike - around town, down country lanes - nothing beats it for freedom, independence and mild exercise.

Now in semi-retirement from a life as a primary school teacher, I hope to spread my enthusiasm through encouraging more people to take to their bikes.
