Route to Roots

Sky Ride Local in Stockton-on-Tees

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

This fantastic challenging ride will certain get the legs stretched as this route departs from Eaglescliffe, through picturesque Yarm and through some of the most scenic and picturesque lanes and villages the area has to offer. A café stop at the popular 'Roots Cafe' will ensure the energy levels are re-stocked in preparation for the challenging climbs ahead. A lovely circular route which is all on road and quiet country lanes.

Additional Information

Helmets must be worn by all under 18's regardless of ride level.
Please make sure your bike is in good working order and bring equipment with you to repair punctures, Ride Leaders are there to help but are not responsible for your bike.
All rides leave at the time stated you must arrive early Ride Leaders will not wait.

• Marjorie Wilson Hi! I'm Marj this will be my second year as a Sky Ride Leader. I enjoyed SkyRide so much I had to come back for more!
  
  I only got a bike in my late 20s, and there are still sometimes I feel like a newbie, so understand that being on a bike and on the road can be daunting. However, cycling offers so many wonderful experiences that you soon forget the wobbles and enjoy the scenery - and the cake stops!
  In 2011 I did my first long distance cycle rides - and only cried once on the Coast to Coast ;0).
  My favourite kind of cycling is road cycling, and I can sometimes but not often be found off road on a mountain bike.
  I'm looking forward to leading you on a great ride out soon, and hope you enjoy the scenery, the freedom and the banter that cycling can offer you.

  Few of you Sky Riders already know me and... well that's enough about me as Sky Rides are about you.
  If your looking to meet new friends, gain confidence, learn new routes, get the kids out for some exercise and enjoyment or to simply ride a bike then tune in, sign up and ride with the Sky Ride Leaders.

  I am approaching my second season as a sky ride leader and having just completed and passed my off road endorsement I am now able to take rides off road.I have been cycling since 1998 and met some good mates throughout the years.
  I am hoping to be doing this for many years and meeting new cycling friends .
