Breeze Bike Rides in Hull

London 2012 has proved to be one of most significant and game-changing times for women’s cycling and we want to celebrate this unprecedented era and invite you all to Breeze in the Park. The Breeze network will be transforming Peter Pan Park (Costello playing fields) into a bike riding haven as we encourage women to take to their bikes with friends and children and join others to celebrate this success. 

Sneaky peak of what’s in store:

Meeting point: Peter Pan Park Cafe - towards the Pickering road side of Costello playing fields. We'll be here from 10am - 1pm.

Times and details of the Breeze bikes rides taking place:   

10am - Ride to Cycle Mania Bike Jumble Sale at Kelvin Hall Secondary School  using mostly traffic free cycle paths to access the school (Note: we need push our bikes over a rail bridge using a gully for the wheels so our arms get a little workout too!).  Stop for around half an hour to browse and shop then head back the way we came for Tea and Cake in Peter Pan Park. Ride pace is steady, time approx 2hrs (including stop)  

11am - Family ride from Costello Park to Pickering Park. We will start out on the road but avoid major roundabouts, then use a traffic free track into Pickering Park. We'll then cycle around the Lake in Pickering Park - stop for a short break and then head back for tea and cakes at Peter Pan Park. Estimated time 1hr - pace slow.

Fancy something a little more challenging?

10.30 am - Sunday girls road Club ride - a challenging ride with our new women's ‘Breeze inspired’ road club will be starting/finishing at Breeze in the Park. Join us at the Cafe: You'll have the chance to find out more about the Breeze Network and meet like-minded women. They’ll be fun toys to keep the children entertained and amused. Young ones can cycle around the park for fun while you have a cuppa. It might be worth bringing a few pennies if you want something more substantial and if you want to do the ride to the Cycle Jumble.

Friends of Peter Pan Park will be opening their cafe run by local volunteers who love the park. Selling tea, coffee,  juices, toasted teacakes and the most amazing homemade cakes all at low prices. There is a great play park and pond nearby for kids to play and feed the ducks. Costello is home to athletics in Hull and with great playing fields families can bring a picnic, football/cricket and have a great day in the park.

Sustrans volunteers are coming along to give information about the great cycle routes into and out of Hull.

Pickering Police are attending to give out safety information and do Cycle Security Postcoding.
