Fun in the sun at Sky Ride Bolton

Thousands of local residents turned out for a great day of sun and cycling in Bolton on Sunday 2 June.

Sky Ride Bolton returned to the town for the second time, offering the chance to ride through the centre of Bolton on traffic-free streets. 5,500 people took part – many meeting Olympic champion and local hero Jason Kenny, who came long to start the ride, take part in a question and answer session on stage, sign bibs and meet local people. There was lots of free entertainment on offer for all the family, including music, street entertainers, and sports tryout sessions.

Peter Haymes, British Cycling's Recreation Manager for the North West, said: 'It was wonderful to be back in Bolton today and see so many people taking part. The weather was very kind to us, and the sun brought a real festival atmopshere to the day.'

Sky Ride Bolton is just one of many ways to get involved in cycling in Bolton. British Cycling and Sky are also bringing lots of Sky Ride Local rides to the area, as well as Social Cycling Groups and Breeze bike rides for women. Find out more and join a ride in Bolton.
