The Big Breeze Bike Ride
Published 1 March 2012
On the weekend of 23-24 June 2012, we organised the UK’s first ever event to get loads of women riding bikes at the same time.
As part of the biggest ever campaign for women’s cycling, women across the country got involved by arranging informal bike rides. We created a promotional toolkit and a Facebook app for people to pick up some tips about promoting and organising their rides. A flagship event took place in Hull attended by over 500 women.
Natalie Justice, Breeze Programme Manager, said: 'The Big Breeze Bike Ride was an amazing weekend where we saw loads of women swapping their usual walk or meet-up with friends for a bike ride. It was informal, fun, and we hope it's introduced loads of women to the fun of bike riding.'
