Sky Ride Local in Bridgwater

Not cycled for a while and looking for an easy way to get back in the saddle? Fancy a fun way to get your friends or kids riding? Our Easygoing rides are great for building confidence for all abilities and ages along relaxed, mostly traffic-free routes. They’re up to six miles long, with a gentle pace of around six miles an hour.

Setting out from The Sunny Side Up Café on Rhode Lane we will quickly be out on the quite country single track roads surrounding Bridgwater.  We will head out towards Rhode Farm before we loop round and admire the wonderful rural views on the way back.  Designed as a starter route to help beginners gain confidence on the quiet roads around Bridgwater, it is suitable for all types of bikes.  Hopefully at 4 miles with one short climb it will be the views that leave you breathless and not the route.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Chris Johnson Chris Johnson Like most people I learnt to ride a bike at a young age however as soon as I was old enough to drive the poor old bike went to the shed never to see the Road again. I have now been a keen cyclist for the last three years havng taken it up as a preferred form of exercise to lose weight.

More recently I took up trail riding after purchasing a proper mountain bike and can been seen regularly riding at Halden Forest near Exeter and the Quantocks.

I am also a qualified British Red Cross Cycle Responder, which earned me the priveledge of being part of the team that looked after the public during the Olympics at Weymouth. More recently I completed the Great Weston Ride, a 56 mile cycle ride in aid of Prostrate Cancer UK.

Cycling is not only a great way to exercise but a great way to relax, and to think. I am proud to call myself a SkyRide leader and I hope that everyone who rides with me can discover the fun and pleasure it gives.

Hope to see you all soon.

    Chris
