The Lucky Lickey Ride

Sunday 22nd September at 10.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
Lickey Hills Country Park, Warren Lane, Rednal B45 8ER
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 0 mins  (2 hours 0 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Birmingham

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

This 16 mile ride explores the country lanes, waterways and sights of south west Birmingham, venturing into the edge of Redditch. Escape the urban environment and experience a countryside feel on this ride through the unspoilt greenbelt only a few miles out of the city. The numerous cafes and Redditch Forge Mill Museum provide some welcome resting points. There is one very rough section of bridleway that makes this route unsuitable for road bikes; tougher hybrids or mountain bikes are perfect.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • David Baldwin David Baldwin Hi
My name is David and I am your Sky assistant for today’s ride. I have been riding for many years and own a number of bikes suited for different terrains and rides. Roughly I average around 100 miles a week and always up for a ride and love to get new riders build up their distances. I hope you enjoy your ride today and book on again!
  • Mitchell Davis Mitchell Davis Hi everybody my name is Mitch.
I got into cycling four years also ago, and never looked back. I started when Skyride Local was formed. It is a great way to get back on your bike and involve your family, as my kids enjoy the many rides they are still doing. I enjoy road riding and going off road getting really muddy.
"Now I have the pleasure of being a Ride Leader"
I look forward to meeting you all.
  • Carl Miller Carl Miller Hi there, I started cycling in march 2011 and after taking part in a few Sky Rides found myself hooked. I now cycle to work daily and try to get at least a couple of distance rides in each week. I am looking forward to participating in the Sky Ride program again this year and am looking forward to meeting new riders.
I am a keen scuba diver and enjoy most outdoor activities
