Sky Ride City Terms & Conditions

Terms and conditions – Sky Ride

1. Conditions of registration and participation in the above events:

Most of these conditions are designed for your safety and the safety of other riders. Please read them carefully to avoid problems later.

General

1. Cycling can be strenuous and riders must be in good health. Riders who have any doubt about their health or have a medical condition that could be affected by exercise, particularly a heart condition, should consult their doctor before participating.

2. All riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. If you are registering a person aged under 16 who is not your child, you must have the consent of the parent or guardian of the child in question.

3. It is recommended that all riders wear a cycle helmet. Riders should also carry suitable means of identification clearly showing their name and the contact number of a relative or friend who should be contacted in emergency.

4. The ride is designed entirely for bicycles (i.e. non–powered cycles). The organisers’ decision shall be final as to whether a bicycle is of an appropriate type or condition to participate in the ride.

5. While the local council, organisers, managers and promoters of the ride will do all in their reasonable control to make the ride as safe as possible, all riders take part at their own risk.

6. All riders must ensure that their bicycles are in a roadworthy condition, must observe the rules of the Highway Code and follow the instructions of any officials, marshals and the Police.

7. None of the local city councils, the organisers, managers or any sponsors or promoters of the ride accept liability for any loss or damaged caused where:

(a) there is breach of a contractual obligation or legal duty of care owed to you;

(b) such loss or damage is not reasonably foreseeable at the time of breach

(c) an injury is sustained or property damaged in the course of the ride or as a result of taking part in the ride; or

(d) any changes are made to the route or conduct of the ride for safety or operational reasons or as otherwise required for the safe and proper carrying out of the event;

(e) except for death or personal injury caused by their negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other matter for which it would be illegal or unlawful for them to exclude or attempt to exclude their liability.

8. The local city council, the organisers, managers or any sponsors or promoters of the ride may take photographs and video footage of the ride and riders for publicity purposes. By registering to participate in the ride either on your own behalf or upon behalf of any other rider including those under the age of 16 years, you agree that photographic images of you, containing you, or of those under the age of 16 years upon whose behalf you have registered, may be used by the city council, the organisers, managers or any sponsors or promoters of the ride for publicity purposes.

9. The organisers may cancel any rides at their discretion. They will endeavour to give as much notice as possible of any cancellations. The organisers accept no liability for any costs incurred as a result of the cancellation.

10. Official bike parking spaces should be used. Neither the city council, the organisers, managers or any sponsors or promoters of the ride accept responsibility for any loss or damage when using such parking spaces and the organisers and managers of the ride reserve the right to remove bikes chained to unofficial bike parking areas.

Use of Information

1. Sky and British Cycling will use the information you provide for administration and research purposes in the delivery of these and future cycling activities.

This may include contacting you by email or SMS with reminders or information about your chosen activity. Where applicable we will send you SMS messages to remind you of your registration, with information whilst you are at the event and if for any reason an activity has to be cancelled.
